Further details regarding the illicit procurement trail of Mohsen Vanaki

December 15, 2009
More details have emerged regarding the trail and activities of German-Iranian trader Mohsen Vanaki accused of illicitly procuring materials that could be used in the Iranian nuclear program in contradiction of export laws and U.N. imposed sanctions.
ISIS has been following the case and constantly updating the report with new details as they emerge. One of the main aspects of the case was the open question on whether Iran had a nuclear weapons program or not. The prosecution, with the information and assessments provided by the German intelligence service (BND), claimed that Iran had and was still pursuing a nuclear weapons program, as also demonstrated by its attempted procurement of high speed cameras used to film test explosions. The defense on the other hand has used the 2007 NIE in order to claim that no such program exists and thus that Vanaki is not guilty of any infractions.
