Iran Atomic Energy Agency Chief resigns

July 16, 2009
BBC is reporting this morning that Gholam Reza Aghazadeh, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization submitted his letter of resignation three weeks ago to President Ahmadinejad; he is also stepping down as one of Iran’s Vice Presidents, a title he also held. No word on what prompted the resignation, though the timing would have it appear to be election related. He has been head of the AEOI since 1997.
